If Grosse Pointe Blank has taught us anything, its that “You can never go home again”. The same is true regarding childhood. Once you leave childhood, seeing the same things again does not have the same effect as it once did.

And there are reasons for this, well, culprits would closer. The people we once admired and heralded as the saviours of our formative years are the same ones that have now taken a giant dump on our childhood. And as if that was not bad enough, they’ve rubbed it in our faces to make sure we get the message.

I am sure this list will be different for everyone. But here are the people that have put the final knife in the child that was within me.

The trailer for Descent 2 is now online. I really enjoyed the first one, Neil Marshall did an excellent job at creating an atmospheric and scary film, as he did with Dog Soldiers, and I thought Doomsday was pretty good as well.

Jon Harris is now at the directing helm for the second installment, and its his directorial debut, having been editor of a number of films including Snatch, Layer Cake, Descent, and Eden Lake.

Watching the trailer it does look good, but also looks like he got the script for Aliens, and did a cut and paste job on it.

Aliens: Ripley gets rescued.
Descent 2: Sarah gets rescued.
Aliens: Ripley ends up in hospital and is persuaded to lead a team back to the planet.
Descent 2: Sarah ends up in hospital and is persuaded to lead a team back underground.
Aliens: People start getting picked off.
Descent 2: People start getting picked off.

I am looking forward to the new film, but I feel like I might have seen it before, time will tell.
